Hi everyone, have you recently started your own site and were wondering when and if you should start using Tailwind to grow your traffic?
Have you been thinking about starting your own site and haven’t quite taken the leap yet? Click here for some great tips on how to get started.
Even if you are brand new to blogging and don’t have much content of your own, I highly encourage you to start using Tailwind from the beginning.
Starting a blog was one of the best decisions I have ever made in my career. Developing countless new skills and finally finding “what I want to be when I grow up,” has given me more confidence and a sense of purpose each day.
In this post we will cover:
Why use Tailwind
Pinterest is the best social media platform available for visual content. It is a search engine using photographs and the easiest way to organically increase traffic to your own website.
To do this, you have to get your content out there, every day, all throughout the day.
Trust me, this can be a time sucking activity! You don’t want to be spending all day saving your pins to Pinterest. You need to be spending your time creating more valuable content to share on your site.
This is where Tailwind comes in.
What is Tailwind
Tailwind is a social media scheduling tool that allows you to schedule pins/pics from all over the internet to your own personal Pinterest and Instagram accounts.
Tailwind is the #1 scheduling tool for both Instagram and Pinterest. What I have found is it is also the best tool for scheduling pins to Facebook!
Each pin you set up in the scheduler, gives you the option to post on Facebook as well. You can give each of those their own title. It has made all the difference for growing site followers and the number of people each post reaches.
Tailwind offers an entire suite of marketing tools, including but not limited to analytics, smart scheduling (choosing the best times to engage your audience), and hashtag suggestions.
There is also a SmartLoop feature that allows you to continually keep re-pinning the same photos. I would not recommend using this feature for a couple of reasons.
First, you want to try to keep your posts as seasonal as possible. Secondly, Pinterest likes new and fresh content. Newly created content is always featured first.
How to Use
Tailwind offers many tutorials, educational tools, and support.
The simplest and time savvy way to schedule pins is to go straight to your/any site on your mobile. Click on the photo you want to save by pressing down and holding on the photo. A list will appear and press the Share link tab.
Another list of labeled icons will show. Scroll through until you find the Tailwind icon button and press. The available photos to Pin for that post will appear. Click on one or more and select the Next button.
Now select each category to Pin the photos in. Next, either add to queue or save to drafts.
Select a number of posts and send more photos to the queue using Tailwind just like we just did, then go to your tailwindapp.com dashboard on your computer and work from there.
Schedule your pins in the time slots you desire for optimal traffic viewing. The scheduler allows pins to automatically be scheduled out days, weeks, and months in advance, all in optimal time slots.
Why you Should Start Using the Tailwind App Now
I put off starting the Tailwind App month after month. I read several blog posts/Pins on the pros and cons and just those few cons created that initial doubt.
Monthly costs of running a blog can add up quickly. Even though I have read and studied all the tools a blogger should have at their fingertips, putting each one off until the last possible minute has been my M.O.
When I finally broke down and signed up with Tailwind, it took me a couple of hours to set up, a bit longer than I anticipated based on the feedback but we all have our own pace. Using my “savvy time saving way”, in the “How to Use Tailwind” above, I spend about 45 minutes every 6 weeks. Again, each person will have their own time frame that works within their demands and skill set.
In the first 3 months my site traffic tripled. These results may not be typical for everyone. To see “typical” results click here. Tailwind was saving me so much time. I no longer had to save thirty to sixty pins every single day.
My site traffic has averaged an increase of around 18-23% each month. I can spend more time working on creating content instead of sitting around posting pins. Again, results will vary for everyone, see typical results here.
Membership
Tailwind is free to start, after that it is just $9.99/month. The trial includes 100 pins on Pinterest or 30 Instagram posts.
The membership allows you to be part of 5 Tailwind Communities, along with unlimited communities you start personally.
Tailwind Communities are private groups. I recommend you sign up for any community that may be in your niche. For example, my site is for gluten free and low carb recipes, so one of my Communities is “low carb keto recipes for beginners”.
Tailwind has changed the way I work and lifted a big weight off of my shoulders. We all know time is our most valuable resource and to be able to shift it to more constructive activities makes my only regret not starting to use Tailwind sooner!!!
