Description

Cherry chutney is made with dark sweet cherries, tart cranberries and spicy peppers.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups dark sweet cherries, fresh or frozen

1/2 cup cranberries, fresh or frozen

1 garlic clove, minced

1 poblano pepper, seeded and membrane removed

1/4 cup red onion, minced

1 jalapeno or serrano, minced and seeded or not, depending on how HOT you want it

1 tsp Chinese 5 spice

Zest and juice of one mandarin orange

1/4 cup Swerve brown

2 tsp real apple cider vinegar

1/4 tsp kosher salt

Grapeseed oil or other flavorless oil for sautéing

Instructions

Mince the onion, garlic and peppers and sauté in a medium sized saucepan.

Cook until the onions are softened, then add salt and spices and cook for two minutes.

Add the cherries and cranberries to the onion mixture, then the zest and juice of one mandarin orange, sweetener and vinegar.

Allow to cook down on low heat until thickened, about 45-60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
